Friday, March 12, 2010Bower’s Art Studio & Gallery![]() I've long been an admirer of the work of prolific artist Jamie Bowers. His abstract paintings, perfectly suitable for either a business or home, are as vibrant as they are affordable. If you're in the Sioux City area, I highly recommend swinging by his very cool studio & gallery which is jammed with paintings. Be sure to check out his online gallery to browse his collection and learn more. If you live in Sioux City, you can view one of his bronze pieces on the downtown sculpture walk. Otherwise I recommend you visit his website to see examples of his interesting bronze and wood work that is specifically designed to "provoke social engagement and activity." posted by: chris on 10/01 at 03:25 AM permalink category: designers & artists Friday, September 14, 2007the art of Susan Jamison![]() I have recently (and fortunately) stumbled upon the delicate work of Susan Jamison. Part medical textbook and part Audubon field guide, she describes her work as "magical realism," which is as good a description as anything I might imagine. To see her intriguing collection of illustrated natural imagery you can visit her online gallery or pick up issue 69 of New American Paintings, in which she was featured. posted by: chris on 09/14 at 04:02 AM permalink category: designers & artists Friday, June 22, 2007the art of Amy Lin![]() I love the layered molecular work of Amy Lin, especially this colored pencil drawing titled Tripled. Check out more of her work here or pick up issue 69 of New American Paintings, in which she was featured. posted by: chris on 06/22 at 03:53 AM permalink category: designers & artists Thursday, May 31, 2007Interpol art![]() Yet another cool poster by Jeff Kleinsmith of Patent Pending Industries. If only I had been in Seattle I could have seen more than just the poster... Interpol is a frequent circle studio fave. posted by: chris on 05/31 at 03:43 PM permalink category: designers & artists Monday, May 14, 2007color dance![]() Need a little uplifting color and design in your life? Check out this fluid dance series of hand-stretched canvas prints from Avalisa, extremely cool. I also love the clean website design that beautifully showcases the work. posted by: chris on 05/14 at 06:03 PM permalink category: designers & artists Friday, May 11, 2007Sub Pop Art![]() Since way back in the early days of bands like Velocity Girl, Nirvana, The Fluid, Sebadoh, Codeine and Zumpano (to name but a few) I've been a fan of Sub Pop Records music and a subconscious fan of their cover, poster, and T-shirt art. Now the amazingly cool graphic work of Sub Pop artists Jeff Kleinsmith, Jesse LeDoux, and others is available @ their Patent Pending Industries. I believe I may need a concert poster or two to adorn circle studio, perhaps this Wilco poster by Jeff Kleinsmith right above my desk. posted by: chris on 05/11 at 05:20 PM permalink category: blogs & sites of interest category: designers & artists Wednesday, May 02, 2007into the abyss![]() I'm very keen on this striking abyssal series of hand silk screened prints from New York's Sub Studio. Check out graphic artist and photographer Anna Corpron and illustrator Sean Auyeung's collection of prints and cards from their sub-studio design store. posted by: chris on 05/02 at 04:12 AM permalink category: designers & artists Friday, April 06, 2007facinating![]() I love studying the other-worldly and affecting work of New-York based Japanese artist Naoto Hattori. posted by: chris on 04/06 at 03:12 AM permalink category: designers & artists Wednesday, April 04, 2007goodbye free time![]() If you enjoy browsing through endless objects of splendid design and variety, like I do, look no further than NOTCOT and NOTCOT.ORG Settle in, you'll be there for awhile. posted by: chris on 04/04 at 12:45 PM permalink category: blogs & sites of interest category: designers & artists category: procrastination assistance Monday, April 02, 2007John HimmelfarbOne of my favorite painters is John Himmelfarb:![]() Especially this painting entitled "Off the Lake" from his Inland Romance Series I recommend visiting JohnHimmelfarb.com to see more. posted by: chris on 04/02 at 01:32 PM permalink category: designers & artists |
