Bower’s Art Studio & Gallery

image

I've long been an admirer of the work of prolific artist Jamie Bowers. His abstract paintings, perfectly suitable for either a business or home, are as vibrant as they are affordable. If you're in the Sioux City area, I highly recommend swinging by his very cool studio & gallery which is jammed with paintings. Be sure to check out his online gallery to browse his collection and learn more.

the art of Ken Peterson

image

I've recently discovered the the wonderful work of Ken Peterson whose studio, as it turns out, is about six blocks away from my own...small world. If you live in Sioux City, you can view one of his bronze pieces on the downtown sculpture walk. Otherwise I recommend you visit his website to see examples of his interesting bronze and wood work that is specifically designed to "provoke social engagement and activity."

the art of Susan Jamison

image

I have recently (and fortunately) stumbled upon the delicate work of Susan Jamison. Part medical textbook and part Audubon field guide, she describes her work as "magical realism," which is as good a description as anything I might imagine. To see her intriguing collection of illustrated natural imagery you can visit her online gallery or pick up issue 69 of New American Paintings, in which she was featured.

I love the layered molecular work of Amy Lin,
especially this colored pencil drawing titled Tripled.
Check out more of her work here or pick up
issue 69 of New American Paintings, in which she was featured.

Interpol art

image

Yet another cool poster by Jeff Kleinsmith of Patent Pending Industries.
If only I had been in Seattle I could have seen more than just the poster...
Interpol is a frequent circle studio fave.

Need a little uplifting color and design in your life?
Check out this fluid dance series of hand-stretched canvas prints from Avalisa, extremely cool.
I also love the clean website design that beautifully showcases the work.

Sub Pop Art

image

Since way back in the early days of bands like Velocity Girl, Nirvana, The Fluid, Sebadoh, Codeine and Zumpano (to name but a few) I've been a fan of Sub Pop Records music and a subconscious fan of their cover, poster, and T-shirt art.
Now the amazingly cool graphic work of Sub Pop artists Jeff Kleinsmith, Jesse LeDoux, and others is available @ their Patent Pending Industries.

I believe I may need a concert poster or two to adorn circle studio, perhaps this Wilco poster by Jeff Kleinsmith right above my desk.

into the abyss

image

I'm very keen on this striking abyssal series of hand silk screened prints from New York's Sub Studio. Check out graphic artist and photographer Anna Corpron
and illustrator Sean Auyeung's collection of prints and cards from their sub-studio design store.
